Installing Chat Plugin on Shopify
Shopify makes it easy to integrate third‑party scripts, and there are several ways to add the ModulON AI Chat Plug‑in depending on your store setup.
Let’s go through each method:
Requirements
Before adding the ModulON AI Chat Plug‑in to your Shopify website, make sure you meet the following requirements:
Account & Access
A verified ModulON AI account (email confirmed and active account).
A ModulON AI API Key from your ModulON AI dashboard
Domain Setup
A live domain (e.g., modulonai.com or app.modulonai.com).
Ensure the domain matches exactly with the one bound to your API key.
Technical Requirements
Ability to edit your site’s code (Header, Body, or Footer)
Access to theme editor, custom HTML blocks, or script manager plugins/apps.
Preparing these requirements ahead of time ensures a smooth installation process and avoids common errors like domain mismatches or missing script permissions.
Method 1: Using the Theme Editor (Recommended)
Log in to your Shopify Admin Dashboard.
Go to Online Store → Themes → Actions → Edit Code.
Locate the theme.liquid file.
Paste your ModulON AI script (from the Existing Widget Tab in your dashboard) just before the closing tag.
Save changes and refresh your store to see the chatbot live.
Important Notes
Always double‑check the domain linked to your API key. It must match your Shopify store domain exactly (e.g., or your custom domain).
If you change your store’s domain, you’ll need to generate a new API key.
Clear your Shopify cache and refresh your storefront after installation to confirm the widget loads correctly.
